Teron Gorefiend Say hello to Teron Gorefiend. Kind of a tiny guy compared to what you’ve faced so far, huh? Don’t let that fool you. He wants to eat your soul or your bones, or something only those lines I’m not too sure. Either way, he wants to kill you and I assume the feeling is mutual or you wouldn’t be here. So, what does it take to kill Mr. Gorefiend?

The first thing you’ll need is the following 3 macros:

/cast Spirit Lance

/cast Spirit Chains

/cast Spirit Volley

Now take these macros and place them on any bar but your main(1st) bar (I’ll explain way in a second). Now keybind them to something you can do quickly. I repeat, keybind them to something easy, because these macros are the most important part of this fight so be completely confident in your ability to hit them quickly.

More on that in a minute. The fight starts out fairly straight forward, he’s tanked in the area in which he starts and you need to lay into him as much as possible. He’ll be doing some AoE shadow damage so pop a health pot or cloak if you’re lacking a heal for awhile.

At some point in the fight you may get “Shadow of Death” cast on you. If not, great, simply keep stabbing him until he dies at which point you can continue to stab if you so desire or go about your merry way. If you do get the debuff however you have 55 seconds before you’re turned into a ghost and the gimmick of this fight is revealed. If you haven’t burned your cooldowns yet do so now. Once your timer gets to about 15 seconds you need to run away from the raid (If at any point in time you feel like you’re going to die from excessive damage you need to run away from the raid regardless of the time left. If you die in the raid, it is most certainly a wipe). You see the two corners on either side of the door where you entered? You want to run to the corner that is not currently occupied by a raid member who got shadow of death previously (if you’re the first to get it, lucky you, just pick one. I like the left). Now, don’t run all the way into the corner. When your timer runs out you are going to turn into a ghost and four constructs will spawn at your four corners and you need to give them room to spawn around you or else they will all spawn on one side and be more difficult to control. Your overall goal is to keep the construct from ever getting close to the raid and to kill them all before your 60 seconds as a ghost is up (this is plenty of time). Once you’re in position (probably with about 5-10 seconds left) you need to start spamming your spirit chains macro, like, really spamming it. You shouldn’t break your keyboard but you should probably annoy anyone else in the room with you. The reason for this is that Spirit Chains is an AoE hold, exactly like Frost Nova and spamming the button will guarantee that the constructs get shackled as soon as they spawn. Next thing you want to do is move forward, placing yourself in between the constructs and the raid and quickly (quickly!) begin to hit each construct individually with a Spirit Lance. Spirit Lance slows their movement speed so you want to hit each one before the shackle breaks (so, again, be as quick as possible). Tab targeting to switch between them helps with this but if you feel more comfortable clicking on them you should be ok but keep in mind that you will be very unlikely to succeed if you do not keybind your macros. Continue moving foward and Lancing the constructs. It should be noted that you do not have to be facing a construct to hit it with a lance, it has a 360 degree range. Once you’ve hit all the constructs with two spirit lances if you feel like you have things under control, try to fire off a Spirit Volley. Spirit Volley is simply a high damage AoE (Never use Spirit Volley while they are shackled as it will break all the shackles without any slow effect, always break the shackle with a Spirit Lance). Spirit Volley is not essential so if you’re uncomfortable simply keep lancing. In 15 seconds your Spirit Chains will be ready again, position yourself to hit all the constructs and fire it off as soon as it is ready and then start again with the lancing. This whole process can seem a bit complex and overwhelming at first but just relax, it is far simpler than it actually sounds, take a deep breath and concentrate and you’ll be fine. If you happen to finish your constructs before your ghost runs out (and you will once you get good at it), help an ally out with their’s (just don’t volley their shackle!).

Note: The reason I tell you to place your macros on something other than Bar1 is because when you change to a ghost, your first bar will change to have these new ghost maneuvers on it. Personally, I don’t think they are laid out as well as they could be, which is why I use the macros. Plus, if you use a bar mod (I prefer Bartender4 myself) you can’t be sure exactly how they will react. By using the macros and placing them on another bar and keybinding them, you guarentee you know exactly where they are and how to use them. Very important as a screw up with your constructs can certainly wipe the raid.

Provided everyone can handle their constructs as well as you now can, Gorefiend will drop like a sack of..something that drops really fast. And if you’re really lucky he’ll drop one of these:

Shadowmoon Destroyer’s Drape

Now this is just a beautiful cloak. Most likely you’re still wearing your cloak from Kara or if you’re lucky the one from the timed chest in ZA and this is a nice upgrade for either. Some silly hunters are going to want this too but you should be ahead of them in line ;)

Insidious Bands

Another big want item, pretty much a straight upgrade from what Rage drops. Yellow gem slots are your friend.

Twisted Blade of Zarak

Not a bad thrown weapon at all. Though there are certainly a few better pieces for that slot.

Another pretty simple fight for us in general (provided you can handle your constructs), and you thought Black Temple was going to be difficult. Well, I hope you’ve stayed awake because it’s time to prove yourself: Reliquary of Souls is next.
