I was playing around and doing a little math with haste when I started wondering about the diminishing returns on it. Surely it has diminishing returns (everything seems to) but where does it really begin and when does stacking haste actually become a waste of time?

Using the following formula courtesy of WOWWiki:

NewWeaponSpeed = WeaponSpeed/(1+(Haste Rating/1570)

I came up with the following chart:

I choose 2000 as the max of the haste rating as achieving anything higher seems impossible. Truly a rating of 2000 is pretty absurd as the proc from the Dragonspine + the proc from the Warglaives + a haste pot only yields 1175.

The curve of the graph is not unexpected, after all, we knew from the start that returns would be diminishing in some way. What I learned from this is that there are two points where rate of diminishing returns seems to change. Right around 600 haste rating and again around 1200-1300 (you can scroll your mouse slowly over the line to see exact numbers). This got me to thinking: Does this mean that the combination of buffs I discussed above is a waste when you combine it with Slice and Dice? Let’s see, shall we:

The answer appears to be a big, happy no. We still see the same points of diminishing returns. I believe this is due to Slice and Dice being percentage based and effecting your weapon speed before any haste ratings are taken into account. Intriguing.

What does this mean overall? Well, I’d say it means that, as of right now, it is damn near impossible to stack enough haste to have it be wasted. Happy days! Haste for all.
