Monday To-Do List

Here we go again, one more time into the breach my friends. So my adventures into PvP turned out to be pretty much a wash as I found myself respec’d into Combat PvE by Wednesday. What can I say, I just can’t stay away. On a nice note, my group managed to pick up The Undying title despite having me along, crazy awesome stuff. I’ll hop back into PvP a little once dual specs are out.

One of my awesome readers gave me a really nice idea yesterday: To have a compendium of various UIs for people to look at and learn from. If you think you have a cool and/or functional UI send me a screenshot at oneroguesjourney (at) gmail (dot) com, try to send a pic both in and out of combat if you can (there’s a lot to a UI that’s not seen outside of combat).

  • Answer another “Ask Zaltu” question and finish up another Friday Morning Mod video. This week, AG_Unitframes!

So I’m pretty busy as of late, but I’m doing my best to keep up with everything.

What’s everyone else up to?

  1. This week, I think I’m going to focus on trying to work up Oracles rep and raw money making.

I’m a Herbalist and Alchemist (Herbichem?) and I use Gatherer to remember and share spawn points of various herb nodes around Northrend. I was scrolling around yesterday and found a nice little mod that allows you to draw routes on your world map that transfer down to your minimap. I thought that the combination of Gatherer and Routes would be an interesting little project. I’m going to see if the combo is going to enhance gathering efficiency.

I redesigned my UI yesterday, too. We’ll see how it performs in the raids.

  2. Hello!

Isn´t poison mutilate better than combat now?

    Why combat? :P

  3. Quick answer, Yes but not by a ton.

Simple answer, I like combat :)

  4. I guess some people just don’t want Hunger for Blood-induced Repetative Stress Disorder.

There’s something to be said for that. It’s all I can do to keep from typing a “Z” every 30 seconds at work.

  5. And to think I bound HfB to F2! Z would certainly make more sense.

I feel you Zaltu: I recently left Combat for Assassination (basically, when I hit 80) and some days I really miss the simplicity and multi-target capacity of Combat. I miss my Adrenaline Rush, Blade Flurry and Killing Spree.

That said, I’m not finding HfB difficult to keep up, between Class Timers and IceHUD making sure I’m well aware of the remaining duration at all times. As for damage, the day I switched, I gained 800dps. Some careful examination, though, revealed that this was due to a pair merely midrange fists whilst Combat and a pair of excellent daggers whilst Mutilate.

And finally, thanks for writing this blog. I’d been despairing of ever finding a good Rogue-oriented blog anywhere.

  6. Hello

@Zaltu: sorry… my first post and I didn´t congratulate your blog! I like it… I learned mutilate pve rotation thx to your blog! :P

@Stonedrake: Your good daggers were 2 LPC (Librarian Papper Cutter ) ? I readed that for mutilate pve that blue 1.30 speed daggers are better than my 1.60 crafted Titansteel Shanker and my other 1.80 epic dagger from Halls of Stone… ¿ is that true ? I can´t try because I don´t want to put 2 Mongoose first :P

    Ah… excuse my english… I am spanish…

  7. Actually, I didn’t take LPCs because they were too expensive! I got an Unrelenting Blade and Wodin’s Second Best Shanker, each with +50 AP.
You are correct, though, that 1.3 speed daggers are better than pretty much any slower dagger for PvE Mutilate, but only if you’re above the poison hit cap, and have an AP above 2500. Of course, you must be hitting a mob that’s not poison immune too (but we’re already gimped against poison immune bosses, anyway, losing a chunk of our Mutilate damage).
It strikes me that some of that might not be entirely completely accurate, but I’ll go with it anyway. I’m just shy of 3000 AP right now, and I’m using a Broken Stalactite and the Unrelenting Blade, Instant and Deadly poisons and +50 AP on each dagger. The spreadsheet tells me I’m coming in at around 2040dps unbuffed (poiosns being 30% of my damage).
If I were to switch to a pair of LPCs, I’d be looking at around 2060 unbuffed damage. I just can’t justify the cost for only a 1% increase in DPS though. Maybe if those Hunters keep nipping at my heels. ;)

  8. Hello!

    I am lucky… because in spanish servers LPC are cheap ( 50 g each one ) :P

I readed about that spreadsheet in many comments… ¿ where can I get an updated one ?

I think that Blizzard should normalize poison dagger damage with weapon speed… so slower daggers should do better poison damage… I feel bad not using my cool slowe epic daggers
