meh meh meh
yeah, the conquest emblem idea IS slightly ridiculous
now that the patch is live, my whole server is a on a serious HC mission.
On my recently dinged 80 char, I now have Northrend Dungeon hero achievement and fully geared.
and .. I got that in two days!

I have found that I am in two minds about this change

Against: I hate to sound like a bitch, bitching about something that will benefit others greatly but I think allowing HCs to drop conquest is a bit .. far?
Such emblems should be EARNED, why the hell have I spent the last few months trying to clear Ulduar and collecting emblems and sexy gear when Blizz decide to allow the casuals to recieve the same rewards as me for almost NO WORK. Who can't run Nexus and get 5 emblems for a couple of easy bosses!? That otherwise would take a good few days of planning, going over tactics, pissing about on vent, wiping 7 times, healer leaves etc etc etc
I just don't see why I've wasted so much time gaining these emblems for them to just be GIVEN away to nubbys!

For (against was more fun to do first): fair enough Blizz want to keep their players .. playing, they are a business after all. The change will help servers develop, more successful raiding guilds will form, more incentive to level to 80 - rather than floundering around in SW begging for g's, and slowly drag the more casual players to the high tiered raiders level! Hurrahh! More noobish arseholes for me to deal with!

But lets face it, if you're on your first guild naxx25 run, do you really want noob who barely knows where their own arsehole is let alone their taunt - but happens to be fully Tier 8 geared because of his ability to run UK continuously - tanking your raid?
No?
Didn't think so.

Is my point proven? Again, probably not.
Meh, majority wins
Conquests a good idea
But I'll continue to argue my dismay while grinding the living s*** out of HCs, I really am a massive hypocrite

I think it's a good idea.

Ulduar 25 is much harder to PUG than Naxx, which limits anyone outside of a HC raiding guild from getting anything. Raising the overall gear level across the game will make Ulduar more puggable.

So, how does this break out?

1. You are in an HC raiding guild already, has no affect.

2. You can't meet the requirements of a HC raid guild (time commitment, regular raid times, etc). You can slowly gear up to ilevel 226 for half your gear, allowing you to experience the new content in the 5/10 man runs and be appropriately geared and occasionally grab a spot in a Ulduar 25 or 3.2 25man PUG for additional gear.

3. You like to die in the fire a lot. Doesn't really matter, DiesInFireOften can still be running around in ilevel 213/226 gear as it is. They get into PUGs, get pulled along, die on every boss fight, but they still get to roll on gear.

This will be especially beneficial for players on low population servers where PUGs are even harder to find.

The only people opposed to this are the HC raiders, who are just being elitist and think that anyone who is not a top notch HC raider should just run dailies and spend their time raiding Naxx over and over. They just need to get over themselves and go play with their hard modes and the new 3.2 content.

I may be a bit biased, as I'm on a low population server, most PUGs are pretty bad and hard to find. I'm also in a guild that can't field more than 1 10man run every couple weeks due to real life constraints. We are casual about raiding, tho some of us are more ambitious than others, but we are RL friends for much of the guild, so we stay together.

You can always tell who is running Ulduar vs who is just buying the gear with EoCs by looking at their weapons.

I like the change. I hear a lot people complaining about how Blizz is just giving away epic gear to all the "bads" now. Who cares? Bads will still be bads. This change is for the newer players that are actually good. Yes, they are out there.

On my server, almost every single raiding guild is currently recruiting. I see this as a way for fresh, new talent to get geared up quickly and get into some of the good raiding guilds.

I agree that it could be a little more difficult for building PuG groups based on gear score. But really, pugging has always sucked and it always will and a player's gear score has never been a very accurate check on real skill.

On one hand I like the fact that getting conquest badges will be easier so I can get all the best gear just in time to run the new zones for even better gear and even newer shinier badges...ahh the grind to be the best. Only to have it be all for not when and if the expansion raises the level cap to 90 only to see level 90 noobs wearing their 80 tier purples. But I am getting ahead of myself. Anyway, the immediate downside to getting the conquest badges from heroics is this makes it alot easier for the not so great players to be invited to wipe your PUG raids based on their gear score. And small side note to Blizzard once we all have all the badges we need (prob a couple weeks after patch) I won't be running the heroics AGAIN! Nice temporary fix but try adding low drop pets or mounts to get the hardcores in their more. Also if you want more people in zones fix the "Additional Instances Cannot Be Launched At This Time"
